Traffic Collision and Citations Report Options

RECOMMENDATION

Provide direction to staff.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

At the May 16, 2019 Traffic Committee meeting, the Traffic Committee requested for citation and collision reports to the Traffic Committee on a routine basis. This information would highlight the areas throughout the City that have high collisions and citations.

The Committee concluded to have staff look into what other agencies provide their respective Commissions/Committees. The Committee was also interested in identifying areas throughout the City that had a high number of citations or collisions.

Per the Committee's request, as a sample, attached is the City of Yorba Linda Traffic Collisions for the month of February 2019 item presented to their March 1, 2019 Traffic Commission. Based on Yorba Linda’s monthly report, some of the suggested options, but not limited to, are listed below.

The five (5) highest number of reported collisions
The five (5) highest number of reported collisions at an signalized intersection
The five (5) highest number of reported collisions at an non-signalized intersection
Highest number of primary collision factors
Highest number of citations issued.

At this time staff seeks direction from the Committee on what options they would like to see based on staff's input and recommendations.
