  Agenda Item   7.
City Council Meeting
Meeting Date: 04/16/2019
FROM: Bill Gallardo

Subject:
Cashew at Lambert Traffic Diverter
RECOMMENDATION
Review and discuss.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the April 2, 2019 City Council meeting, Council requested an item to be placed on the next City Council meeting to discuss the traffic diverters on Cashew at Lambert Road.

Over the past two years, staff has been working with the residents bounded by Cliffwood, Lambert and State College to reduce cut- through traffic in this neighborhood.  After much research and public meetings, the Traffic Committee recommended to install traffic diverters at two locations.  The first was at intersection of Cliffwood and State College and the second was at Cashew and Lambert Road.  At a Special Traffic Committee meeting on March 7, 2019, the Traffic Committee Meeting directed staff to remove the traffic diverter at Cliffwood and State College.  The Traffic Committee did not take any action regarding the diverter at Cashew and Lambert and the diverter is currently in place.

Since the temporary diverter at Cashew and Lambert is still in place, staff intends on keeping with the original monitoring period of six months.  At the conclusion of the monitoring period, staff will report the results to the Traffic Committee and/or Working group to determine next steps.

With the Council's request of having this item on this agenda, staff will be placing an item on the April 18, 2019 Traffic Committee to discuss the Cashew Diverters.
FISCAL IMPACT/SUMMARY
The cost to install the Cashew diverter was estimated at $5,000.  The cost to remove the diverter is minimal as City staff would remove and restore to normal conditions.
