Planning Commission Unscheduled Vacancy Recruitment

RECOMMENDATION

Review the recruitment timeline; designate two City Council Members to serve as the Interview Committee; and direct staff to schedule applicant interviews accordingly.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Brea City Code and Government Code Section 54974 defines the process for unscheduled vacancies. One position on the Planning Commission will become vacant. The term for the position expires on December 31, 2022.

The following is the recruitment timeline:

Vacancy Advertised	Thursday, November 10, 2021
Applications due to the City Clerk's Office	Friday, December 3, 2021, by 5:00 p.m.
Applicant interviews with City Council Members	Monday, December 6, 2021
Council makes appointments	Tuesday, December 7, 2021
