PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL

Chair Schlotterbeck called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm.
             
1. MATTERS FROM THE AUDIENCE

Mr. Manu Abraham, from neighboring business SBX Cooling, spoke about the Mercury Residential project and expressed concerns regarding:
  • Industrial Zone vs. Residential Zone
  • Traffic
  • Parking
  • In and out bound freight traffic
  • Foot traffic with no sidewalks
  • Run off behind property
  • Impacts on his operations

Dwight Manley spoke in support of the Mercury Project.
             
2. MERCURY RESIDENTIAL PROJECT UPDATE

The Applicant's representative, Collette Morse and the applicant, Dwight Manley, gave a brief update on the community outreach element for the Master Plan.

The Planning Commission gave direction to staff they expect to see more outreach to neighbors, general public, Brea employers as well as adjacent cities' employers.
             
3. BREA MALL PROJECT UPDATE

Associate Planner Magaña gave an update on the Brea Mall project.

The Planning Commission gave direction related to the residential architecture and the need for quality improved design.
             
4. AGENDA ITEMS / CLARIFY REGULAR MEETING TOPICS

None.
             
5. INFORMATIONAL / PROJECT UPDATES

Staff presented an update of current and upcoming projects in the City.

7. INVOCATION - PASTOR DAVE TEBAY - CALVARY CHURCH

Pastor Tebay gave the invocation.
             
8. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Commissioner Barnes-Ramos led the Pledge of Allegiance.
             
9. MATTERS FROM THE AUDIENCE

None.
             
10. COMMENDATION - COMMENDATION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR DAVID CRABTREE

Chair Schlotterbeck presented Director Crabtree with a Commendation from the Planning Commission for his 30 years of service and wished him well in his future endeavors as he enters retirement.
             
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
             
11. Approval of Planning Commission Minutes of September 24, 2019 and October 22, 2019.

Vice Chair McGrade made motion to approve.  Commissioner Phu seconded the motion.

Motion carried 5-0.
