City Manager authorization to execute certificates of acceptance for real estate interests and easements

RECOMMENDATION

Adopt Resolution No. 2022-071 authorizing the City Manager to execute certificates of acceptance for real estate interests and easements that are dedicated to the City.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On occasion, real estate interests or easements are dedicated to the City and must be accepted prior to being recorded with the Orange County Clerk-Recorder. At present, each such acceptance requires an individual approval by the City Council. In order to expedite the acceptance process, the City Attorney is recommending that the City Council adopt a resolution pursuant to Government Code Section 27281. That statute allows an agency, by resolution, to authorize one or more officers or agents to accept and consent to deeds or grants that convey real estate interests or easements to the agency.
